What I've been up to

The blog has been quiet but the sewing machine has not…..

I made some very, very, very red blocks:

I did some strip piecing and then cut out a bunch of 60 degree triangles that I arrange, then re-arrange, then re-arrange again. Who knew there were so many things you could do with triangles?

I pulled together this pile but I have SO MANY ideas about how to use it that I can't seem to get down to just one plan:

Oh, and I started my Xmas shopping….um, I mean Xmas fabric shopping:

And of course, hanging out with the munchkins:

Red Letter Day blocks

Wow, these went together really fast:

and a block close-up:

I still need to fiddle around with the layout but Sophie & Tucker should have a new car quilt very soon….because a pooch needs somewhere to lounge and recuperate on the drive home from having adventures in the park :-)

Mystery BOM is all caught up

I was four block behind so I spent yesterday catching up:

And even though we have two blocks to go before we're done, I'm calling it right now:  that red flower block is my favourite!

I continue to be amazed at the amount of scrappage left over from making these blocks.  As always, everything gets sorted by colour so I can put it in my organized scrap bins….or in my case, scrap shoeboxes :-)

Now what to do?
  • Camille has a new pattern out called Red Letter Day.  It would look really pretty in Downton Abbey fabrics, don't ya think?
  • This Woodlands pinwheel & log cabin free pattern from Jo Morton is gorgeous.
  • I'm also drooling over Cynthia Lammon's version of a kaleidoscope quilt.
Once again, the possibilities are endless.

Beach House quilt top

All done:

And I'm already cooking up a new idea, using shot cotton for the first time:

A tense day off

I'm trying to work through some nervous energy while I wait for the Canada/US men's hockey game to start in Sochi.  I'm moving at a pretty good clip on these Beach House blocks:

Canada is riding a wave of gold medals these past few days.  Can it continue?

This is the part where you say "yes".

Baby Sophie

I was looking through some old files and stumbled across this little cutie.  She's ten years old now but she still melts my heart…
